I am now technically in the solid phase post-op and have been allowed since the start of this week, but given my pb’ing experience last week I’m a bit nervous to move into that phase. I have a protein shake for breakfast because it’s what keeps me full until lunch and doesn’t require much prep time. I have some kind of home-made soup or chili for lunch and dinner and am careful to stick to one cup. Snacks are either yogurt or cottage cheese. I know that I need to relax and expand my eating horizons but I’m scared. Arggh!
I’m also getting hungry between meals and have been drinking lots of water to curb my hunger but that doesn’t quite hit the spot. My first fill appointment isn’t for another few weeks so I really should start eating more solid foods.
M is planning to make a French meal tonight with Poulet à la Basquaise (Basque Chicken) as the main course. He knows that I can eat solids and wants to make a nice meal to celebrate. Such a sweetie! I am just going to suck it up, eat slowly and enjoy a small portion.
Monday was my weigh-in day and I am now down 25 pounds since the start of pre-op on Jan 1. No way could I have done it on my own – thank you band! I know that I may gain a bit once I’m fully entrenched in solids so maybe that’s part of my reluctance to move on?

Don't be scared. Take it slow, make sure the chicken is moist or has a sauce with it. The more "real food" chicken, fish, etc. will help curb your hunger. Remember to chew, chew, chew!

Good Luck with solids - I start mushies on Saturday. 25 lbs. is awesome!
ReplyDeleteDon't be scared. Trust me...it all goes down right now...alarmingly so! I got the ok to go on mushies a week before you, but I was tolerating them so well, I just went on to solids, and they really do keep you satsfied so much longer. Just go slow, fingernail sized bites, and chew chew. Right now, moist doesn't seem to be a concern, and I had steak the other night, and then leftover then next day, and all went well. All you can do is try and see what your body wants to handle. I have my first fill on Tuesday...can't WAIT! Willpower is HARD!
