Looks like I won’t have to resort to violence after all…

Last week I was complaining about the scale and I not being on friendly terms, in fact I was up 1.5 pounds. I haven’t been tracking calories, but did for a few days and on average I was consuming between 800 & 900; no wonder I was so darned hungry! I added a couple of snacks and some nuts increasing my calories to an average of between 1200 & 1400. Over the weekend I saw some movement down on the scale and as of this morning, the scale and I are friends again. Today is my official weigh-in day and I am down 3.5 pounds from last week!

I have an appointment with the dietician this week and part of that will be to determine how much of a first fill I’ll need. It will also be interesting to find out how many calories she thinks I should be consuming.

  2. I hate to say this (but I think knowledge is power). She might tell you an amount that is lower than your body needs - or maybe more (but probably not as likely). Mine orginally said 900 and no more than 1200. Now, she would be the first to say how wrong that is for me. I need 1200-1400. If I go under 1100 I have issues.

Follow what she says, but be ready to offer good feedback on what works and what doesn't as time goes on. Then she can figure out what would be best for you. I think you have to be really active in these meetings to get the best results and it might take several weeks (or months) before you find the perfect levels. Heck and then it might change depending on your activity levels and other health issues.

What they keep telling me is that everyone is different. They start out telling you what works for most, but that does not mean it will work the best for you. I don't meet with my dietition anymore, but I do see her each month at the support group and she helps me fine tune everything.
