I foolishly thought that I would escape the hair loss often associated with WLS. It started a few weeks ago around the 4 month post surgery mark and since then I've been losing lots. I'm worried each time I wash, comb or brush my hair and I just want it to stop. I've been diligent about taking a chewable multi-vitamin along with B-12 daily since surgery. In the last couple of weeks I've also added Biotin to the mix in hope that it will aid in slowing or stalling the hair loss. I think I've been consuming enough protein but I'll pay more attention to how many grams I'm eating in a day. I've also heard that Nioxin is supposed to help, at this point I'll try anything. I'll pick some up this weekend and report back in a few weeks.
I got a small fill a couple of days ago, my fourth. I'm hoping that it gets me back to the spot where I'm not thinking about food between meals and a cup to a cup and a half keeps me satisfied.

Oh my, please let me know about Nioxin. Im scared to death of losing my hair.
ReplyDeleteI thought if i havent started losing it in a month in, maybe i'd be lucky and not lose it. But if it happens later on, im gonna die.
Ill be bald if I lose any hair. =(
I'm losing my hair, too (started about 4 months post op, now 7 months post op) - please let it stop soon!!!
ReplyDeleteUh oh. I went through this.. and its just awful. If you go back to here on my blog http://carasquest.blogspot.com/2009/12/i-got-me-fringe-and-other-benefits.html - you should be able to find out some info cos I did a fair bit of research when I was losing my hair.. eek. I have since read though that anything we do externally is really not much help. Our hair has to repair from the inside: so lots of protein. I don't know though. I used nioxin and paid a lot of attention to my hair and finally it's getting much nicer again. It's taken months and months though... sigh.
